With a life full of wrong choices and a growing list of women used and thrown to the side, Branson King seems to have hit rock bottom.  It doesn’t help that he’s been targeted by a dryad, Aurianna, to pay for the death of her grandmother after he crashed his car into a tree killing her.   Aurianna has been shunned by the other dryads, and in order to earn her place back with them, she must kill Branson.  After the two meet, it seems that the heart has something else in store for them.  Can they turn their back on the spark that they feel and go against everybody and everything that they are told or believe?

There is a lot of information that is given in the beginning of the book and I struggled for a little bit trying to figure out what was going on.  I stuck with it and then wasn’t able to stop reading once it started making sense.  If you take the time to get through the rough start, it’s worth reading.

Robyn Wise spends her free time trying to cure werewolves and fighting evil genies, as a paranormal expert nothing is too bizarre for her. With a ghost as a roommate and two wizards as her best friends, Robyn seems to always need backup when she’s putting her life on the line. When she gets the call to help a politician’s son from turning into a tree she knows she must accept the assignment and enter into a darker world of magic, then even she’s prepared for. Wizard Councils and Evil Soul Eating Abominations are about to be just a few of her worries.

This book had so much potential and I was excited to read it, but I felt let down. It took me longer than I would like to read this shorter book, the book dragged on and I would put it down either out of frustration, boredom, or just the feeling of being lost and confused at what was happening. Even after finishing it, I couldn’t tell you who all the players were or what they did outside the few main characters. Robyn Wise didn’t know if she was 25 or 15, the way she acted or spoke. When she’s chased by a werewolf it’s as if we are inside the head of a gum chewing, hair twirling valley girl, and I wanted to stop reading right then, but I forced myself to keep going. The plot and story line were there, but the delivery just fell short. To say the least, I was disappointed.

The Winters Sisters Series

Victory Winters is a world-renowned geneticist and is the best in her field.  Because of her expertise, she’s wanted by those that would like to use her talents for something more sinister than eliminating disease.  After witnessing the murder of a co-worker, a man she thought she loved at one point, Victory knows she must get away.  She’s unable to turn to the police for help, she doesn’t know who she can trust.

Tristan Farraday,  has a few special abilities that he shares his brother.  Together they lead a secret Special Operations Command team, Team Alpha.  Now their target is Biotec, a company that Tristan is now investigating undercover.  When it’s been discovered that the man they have been following has been murdered, Tristan picks up the scent of Victory Winters. Both sides know that she holds answers to their questions and its become a race of who can get to Victory first?  If Tristan can catch up to her, can he keep her safe?

Payton Winters no nonsense business mind is perfect for taking over the position of CEO in The Winters Corporation.  Running the business end of things helps free up Victory’s time so she is able to run the lab trying to find the answers to so many unanswered questions left behind when their parents passed away. However, things are about to get even more complicated after she finds out that she may have special abilities that bound her to the very unstable Collin McBain.  After Collin had been tortured and tested like a lab rat, he is unable to control his wolf side and it’s up to Payton to calm him down.  The sister’s are still not safe and they continue to learn how to control their powers while trying to stay one step ahead of the secret group trying to destroy them.

Willow has the ability to see people’s true feelings and emotions which makes her the perfect candidate to take lead in the hiring employees for The Winters Corporation.  When it’s become obvious that their is a traitor in the company, she must use her abilities to search him out.  The Kaleidoscope Group has made it perfectly clear, that they will stop at nothing and will kill whoever gets in their way, to get to the sisters and the research they are in possession of. Wyatt Farraday has his hands full trying to keep the three sisters safe, but it’s even harder when he finds that he is drawn to Willow and together they discover that their abilities are heightened-a discovery that Willow isn’t so happy about, and she is so adamant that she can take care of herself.

The Winters Sisters Series are filled with intrigue, murder, suspense and romance.  The fast paced action leaves the reader on the edge of their seat, turning pages fast, and wondering what happens next. The characters are developed and their personalities help bring them alive.  I have come to love reading Joanne Jaytanie’s books and look forward to reading more of her writing.
