I love these Timeless Regency Collections. They are able to capture an amazing story in a short amount of time.  I feel the authors are always chosen wisely and I continue to look forward to reading each one that I’ve come across.  The regency period has always been my favorite, and these collections never disappoint.  I especially loved the letters that were shared in An Invisible Heiress, it’s been a long time since I’ve read a story written that way, and I loved it.

She was devastated; her whole world as she knew it was taken away from her.   With the tragic accident that killed her parents, Nelle Thompson  moved to the country to live with her strict unloving aunt.  Trying to get over the grief and depression while making sure to account for every expense she incurred in her aunt’s ledger, Nelle didn’t know how she was ever going to survive.  It didn’t help that she had constant bags under eyes from the nightmares that woke her at night, could she ever get out of her slump?  There was only one true person that could make her smile, Mathew Janson.  Mathew, who also happened to be her eccentric cousin’s fiancé, was everything Nelle thought a true gentleman and fiancé should be.  However, what do you do when you find yourself falling in love with your cousin’s fiancé?  With the help and guidance of Pearl, the owner of the apothecary shop, Nelle hopes to find true happiness before she slips further into her depression.  There is only one problem, a certain event leads Nelle into believing that she has truly lost her mind, and the only option left for her to do is run back to the city and hide from everything and everybody she has come to love.

Another book in the Power of the Matchmaker series, Love is Come, can be read alone as can all the books in this series.  It has been fun to read Miss Pearl’s adventures and watch as she comes and goes in these couples lives.  Heather B. Moore has quickly moved up my list of favorite authors to read, because she is so great at weaving a sweet romance.  I usually stay away from any kind of book or movie from this time era because I do not enjoy the era at all.  The women are easy and the men are jerks.  It was nice to find that a gentleman could actually exist during this time and a woman could keep her virtues.

Midge Knightly had no intentions of falling head over heels in love with the gentleman she overheard discussing his tarnished reputation, she just knew she must step in and stop him from making a huge mistake by starring in a reality show to clear his name. However, Brody Prescott knew that he was smitten from the get go and he had plans to catch the red headed librarian that wore over sized glasses that hid her cute freckles. With a little luck and some well-placed eavesdropping, Brody Prescott knew that there was a chance to catch the elusive Cinderella. It seemed the perfect answer: Play the dashing Bachelor in the TV series, Marry Your Billionaire, where Midge is forced to be taking a role as one of the candidates fighting for his attention in order to get her trust fund back from her father.

Forced in front of the screen, and surprised to find herself staying on for more than one night, Midge is not too happy with the way the events are starting to play out in her life. Brody must be persistent and continue to shower Midge with attention in order to gain her trust and her love. However, there is something sinister happening onset and Midge may be forced to leave the scene early in order to save her life.

I had a blast reading this book. The characters were warm and engaging, and I couldn’t help but chuckle throughout several moments of the book. The romance was sweet and the mystery and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, I kept yelling at Midge to watch her back. I think it’s a fun book that any romantic would love to get their hands on and read.

The Captive (Griffin Force #1)

Buy: The Captive

When you get a call from your government asking you to help head a task forced to rescue an American Diplomat, you can’t turn it down.  However, there’s a little glitch; you are now the personal babysitter for a very head strong and ambitious woman.  Jake and Mya are both very strong and independent people and now they must shake that off and work together to save an innocent man and woman from their kidnappers.  Can they let go of their dislikes and their prejudice’s to complete the mission?

I have to get this off my chest: I couldn’t get past Mya’s high handed personality.  She was draining and annoying. I get tired of women that push themselves and act like they deserve more than they do, acting as if they always have something to prove.  In what world does a lawyer have experience with the dangerous terrorist situation that they were going into?  She’s with a team, many who are former SEALs and she’s demanding to be in charge?  She is always throwing fits and acting like a child not getting what she wants.  She’s with professionally trained military men, and she keeps getting upset when Jake doesn’t say please and thank you. He’s there for her protection, not to baby her.  I was really hard for me to stick with this book.  I did stick with it and it did get a little better, but it wasn’t one of my favorite books to read.
